How to Do a Virgin Islands Business Search:
Before you can apply for a name reservation or file formation documents in the U.S. Virgin Islands, you will need to ensure that your desired business name is available by performing business entity and trademark searches using the applicable online search tools.
Conduct a Virgin Islands business search online.
Go to the DLCA website.
The DLCA website offers a business search tool that allows you to easily search entities by name, location, license type, license number, and/or business activity.
Enter your business name into the search tool.
In the space next to "Business/Trade Name," enter your preferred business name, excluding any identifiers such as "LLC" or "L.L.C." and punctuation.
On the right, next to "Island," select "ALL" to make sure that the search yields as many results as possible. Leave the rest of the fields blank and click "Search."
Be sure to search alternate spellings and similar names to ensure that your proposed business name does not clash with those of other business entities in the database.
View the search results.
If there are no results, you will see a notification stating "No Records Found." This means that your name is likely available.
If the search yields results, you will see a table containing businesses with matching or similar names, their trade names, locations, license types, license numbers, and expiry dates.

Perform a trademark search.
A trademark search is advisable since the business search outlined above is limited to business names registered within the region and does not include territory or federal trademarks.
All trademarks or service marks originating in the U.S. Virgin Islands are required to be registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Therefore, you will need to search the USPTO's trademark database to identify any trademarks and/or service marks registered in the region.
File a name reservation.
To prevent your business name from being snapped up by someone else, you can reserve it for up to 120 days, depending on the type of entity you are registering. The filing cost for all entities is $30.00.
